People are holistic individuals, not merely a “presenting symptom”. We translate everything we experience physically, mentally and spiritually into muscular tension. Our attitudes and beliefs can therefore influence our posture, physical health and well being. We tend to store emotional distress in particular parts of our bodies in the form of physical holding patterns, which over time will affect function as well as structure.
Deeper patterns of thoughts and belief are harder to identify and can be difficult to change on our own. Replacing this behaviour through exercise can easily alter those habits.

We are only as flexible as the least flexible part of our body. Pilates encourages controlled and precise movements specifically designed to strengthen and lengthen the deep postural muscles that give you optimal structural alignment.
Moving with freedom and with grace is both an internal and external experience and is a balance of mental, physical and spiritual energy. Our goal-oriented attitude loses consciousness of this movement. The stress under which we often have to perform tasks can lead to tension and anxiety or pain.

What we can do for you
Holistic Pilates perceives the underlying components of problems on emotional and functional level. It helps to release unwanted tension that has accumulated over the years. Once the balance is re-established, the human body becomes more efficient. Instead of fighting tiredness and gravity, we are left with more vital energy. This also prevents unnecessary wear and tear on the body and recreates the grace of movement we once had as a child.
